OnePower (1PWR), a renewable energy company headquartered in Maseru (Lesotho), is recruiting for its subsidiary in Benin a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to strengthen its team and ensure a safe and secure working environment for its employees and partners.

The core activities of 1PWR include the development, financing, co-ownership, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of renewable energy assets for electricity sales. These activities cover solar photovoltaic power generation, backup generators, battery storage, medium-voltage reticulation, low-voltage distribution, and energy metering.
1PWR has an active portfolio of grid-connected solar energy projects and mini-grids under construction in Lesotho.
1PWR’s customers are diverse and include households, SMEs, institutions, and businesses, with revenues generated from both high-volume real-time PAYG transactions and postpaid billing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and update HSE policies, procedures, and safety plans.

  • Identify occupational risks at solar installation sites and propose corrective measures.

  • Ensure monitoring of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Collective Protective Equipment (CPE), and verify their proper use.

  • Conduct incident and accident investigations, analyses, and reporting.

  • Monitor compliance with safety rules across all sites, including rooftops, solar fields, work at height, and electrical installations.

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in line with Beninese Labour Code requirements and environmental standards.

  • Raise awareness, train, and support technical teams (installers, technicians, supervisors).

  • Contribute to strengthening the company’s safety culture.

  • Organize emergency drills and simulations.

  • Ensure responsible management of electrical and electronic waste.

  • Participate in internal and external audits.

  • Promote environmentally responsible practices within solar projects.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Bac+3 / Bac+5) in HSE, industrial engineering, quality management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in the energy, electrical, or industrial sector.

  • Strong knowledge of risks related to solar installations, work at height, and electrical hazards.

  • Proficiency in HSE tools, including prevention plans, risk analysis, and audits.

  • Strong organizational skills, leadership qualities, and good communication abilities.

  • Ability to train and support field teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English; ability to speak one or more local languages (Fon, Nago, Idatcha, Adja, Dendi, Bariba) is an asset.
